An accident occurred on national road A18, at kilometer 77 (toward Wrocław), at approximately 2:00 p.m. The drivers of two trucks (a Volvo and a Scania) stopped to let a car turning toward a construction site pass. A black Ford Mondeo and a Volkswagen T-4 lined up directly behind them. An approaching Mercedes truck, which was carrying other trucks on a trailer, was unable to brake in time. It hit the Volkswagen, which pushed the Ford under the wheels of the truck standing in front of it. The Ford driver died at the scene.
The Volkswagen driver was seriously injured. He was airlifted from the accident scene to a hospital. After hitting two vehicles, the Mercedes driver did not stop. He scraped the side of the Volvo truck and hit the rear of the Scania truck trailer. The Mercedes passenger was injured as a result of the collision. He was taken to a hospital in Bolesławiec.

As we have established, the accident was caused by the driver's inattention. According to police experts, the truck driver also failed to exercise due caution.
