The device, worth PLN 80,000, was donated to the Bolesławiec county hospital on 15 November, although it has already been in use in the ward since October. The device supplies air to the patient's lungs, supporting their own breathing or replacing it entirely. The ventilator is another piece of medical equipment whose purchase was financed by the municipal government and which was lent to the hospital. Last year, a hemofiltration device (an apparatus for performing continuous extracorporeal therapies) was delivered to the hospital, while in 2005 the city budget co-financed the purchase of a laparoscope and a gastrofibroscope.

In total, the assistance provided to date by the municipal government to the county hospital in Bolesławiec amounts to approximately PLN 3 million. In the near future, the city also plans to allocate more than PLN 50,000 to replace the windows in the children's ward.

This month, another remission of property-tax arrears also took place. Mayor Piotr Roman decided to waive the arrears arising from the tenth instalment for 2007, together with late-payment interest. The decision by the mayor of Bolesławiec to waive the property-tax arrears is intended, among other things, to help the county hospital meet the conditions set out in the decision of the Voivode of Lower Silesia for the successful completion of the restructuring process.
