The holiday season is underway. However, for police officers throughout Poland, this means a period of intensified work. The summer months are precisely the most dangerous ones. Last July saw the highest number of fatal accidents. On 5 July this year, Bolesławiec police officers stopped the driver of a Peugeot Boxer passenger vehicle on national road no. 4. While overtaking, the man skidded and collided with a Mercedes passenger vehicle. As a result of the collision, a 56-year-old Mercedes passenger was taken to hospital. On the same day, a 52-year-old Fiat 126p driver was stopped in Milików. The man had 2.40 per mille of alcohol in his breath.

A heavily intoxicated driver was also stopped during the night of 10–11 July in Gierałtów. The 25-year-old was driving a Volkswagen Golf. The test showed that he had 2.30 per mille of alcohol. Two days earlier, on national road no. 18, a driver of an Opel Vivaro delivery vehicle failed to exercise due caution and rear-ended a VW LT. Three people, including two in serious condition, were taken to hospital as a result of the collision.

On Tuesday, officers of the Prevention Section of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters detained a man who had 25 portions of marijuana on him. Possession of drugs is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment. Two days earlier, Bolesławiec police officers found three portions of the same drug on a conscript. The man was handed over to Military Police officers.

The holidays did not put an end to thefts, assaults or burglaries either. On 30 June, two men, aged 36 and 18, severely beat an elderly man in Wilczy Las. The suspects were placed under police supervision. In Krzywa, one of the thieves who had stolen electrical cables was detained. The search for his accomplices is ongoing. The perpetrators caused the Legnica Special Economic Zone losses of at least PLN 300.

On Tuesday, police officers detained four underage boys, aged between 10 and 14, on Rajska Street. They had attempted to break into the changing rooms of the BKS Bobrzanie sports club. The minors were handed over to their parents. On Wednesday, by decision of the District Court in Bolesławiec, a 39-year-old man was remanded in custody for three months. From the end of May until 9 July, he had been mentally and physically abusing his mother and brother. The perpetrator had previously been convicted of a similar offence and had served a 10-month prison sentence.
