Police officers first uncovered the group’s activities in March 2006. At that time, they detained a 23-year-old resident of Bolesławiec who was trying to break into an apartment. The investigation revealed that this was not the young man’s first offence and that he had not acted alone. The evidence made it possible to identify and detain a total of 11 people suspected of involvement in the group. The perpetrators, aged between 22 and 51, broke into cellars, utility rooms and apartments. They stole bicycles, electrical equipment and valuable items. From one apartment, whose owner ran a trading business, members of the criminal group took cigarettes and household appliances worth PLN 11,800.

Police officers from Bolesławiec proved that the group, which operated throughout the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, had committed nearly 270 offences, including 180 burglaries involving theft. The value of the property stolen by the Lower Silesian gang is estimated at more than PLN 100,000. Most of the suspects had previously been known to the police. Two of them were placed in temporary detention, while three were placed under police supervision.
