Police officers from the Criminal Division of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra, together with officers from the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, arrested two men, aged 24 and 27, suspected of a series of car burglaries. The arrests took place on 6 October, at around 6:40 p.m., in a caravan, where police secured items originating from burglaries. These included car radios.

As officers established, between September and October the suspects acted together in committing at least 11 vehicle burglaries in Jelenia Góra. They stole car radios and other valuable items. Moreover, they attempted to steal two vans, a Lublin and a Mercedes Vito, and also burglarised an outbuilding belonging to one of Jelenia Góra’s offices. They took property worth at least PLN 2,000, including a snow blower, a leaf blower, a brush cutter and other items.

It later emerged that the 27-year-old had also acted alone and, during the same period, committed two further car burglaries. The man stole an Opel Kadett worth PLN 1,000 and attempted to break into an Audi. However, he failed to achieve his intended aim because he was unable to overcome the security measures. The victims’ losses are estimated at several tens of thousands of złoty.

The residents of Jelenia Góra were taken into police custody. Both have also been remanded in custody for three months. They face up to 10 years in prison.
