The duty officer at the Legnica police headquarters received a report that a completely drunk man was just driving away from one of the car parks in Legnica. The message was passed on to all police patrols. The nearest was a team of traffic police officers, who stopped the 51-year-old resident of Silesian Voivodeship just several dozen metres from the car park.
The detained 51-year-old explained that he only wanted to go buy alcohol. The man really was completely drunk—the test showed 3.4 promille of alcohol in his system. What is more, he had already committed this type of offence, as his driving privileges had been revoked. He now faces up to 5 years in prison.
