On 5 May, a serious accident occurred on the road between Tomaszów Bolesławiecki and Wilczy Las. A 24-year-old Opel Vectra driver tried to overtake. However, he failed to notice that another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. Trying to avoid a collision, the driver entered the gap between two cars—a Citroen and a Mitsubishi. He did so unsuccessfully, losing control of the car and colliding with both vehicles. There were no fatalities. The Vectra driver broke his arm. In addition, between 1 and 6 May, there were 15 collisions on local roads. Police also arrested four drunk drivers, including two cyclists.

Bolesławiec thieves also spent the long weekend hard at work. Eight thefts and two burglaries were reported. During the night of 1–2 May, thieves broke into a Mercedes passenger car. Among other things, they stole the airbag together with the steering wheel, a car radio with a CD player, the air-conditioning system and a mobile phone. The losses suffered by the vehicle’s owner, a German citizen, were estimated at PLN 20,000. On 2 May, thieves broke into a shop on Zgorzelecka Street. They stole a metal drawer from the cash register. They were in for an unpleasant surprise: there were only PLN 40 and EUR 15 in the till.
