On September 3, officers from the Zgorzelec traffic police conducted the “Speed” operation throughout Zgorzelec County. During the operation, they stopped 48 drivers who had exceeded the speed limit. Unfortunately, there were also drivers who exceeded the limit significantly. Officers caught as many as four passenger-car drivers travelling at over 100 km/h in a built-up area. The record-holder was travelling at nearly 120 km/h, exceeding the speed limit by as much as 70 km/h. Among those stopped, in addition to residents of our country, there was also a German national. All four received PLN 500 fines and lost their driving licences for three months.
