The incident occurred during the night of August 13. Police officers from Bogatynia received a report of an attempted theft of a surveillance camera at one of the commercial establishments. A patrol immediately went to the scene. The officers spotted a man there wearing a balaclava, who was standing on a ladder and trying to tear a camera from the wall. When he saw the approaching police officers, the man fled. Once caught, he attacked the intervening officers with a screwdriver he was holding. The detainee turned out to be a 27-year-old resident of Bogatynia, well known to the officers.
For attacking police officers with a screwdriver, the 27-year-old man from Bogatynia, suspected of attempting to steal a surveillance camera, could face up to 10 years in prison.
