As officers determined, the incidents took place in July this year in several housing estates in Bolesławiec. At night, the perpetrator looked for open or ajar windows in apartments on the ground floors of buildings. He then entered, even if a resident was asleep, and took valuable items left in visible places. The man was arrested several minutes after one of the burglaries.
The 33-year-old resident of Bolesławiec admitted to committing 11 crimes. In addition, the serial burglar will face charges for fraud: he used a stolen payment card. Police determined that the suspect exchanged the cash obtained with it for another currency and used it on online investment platforms.
The case is developing. Officers are still checking whether the arrested burglar has committed other crimes of this type, and they are also reminding residents of lower floors and single-family homes to close their windows at night or whenever they leave home. A similar appeal is addressed to residents of buildings undergoing renovation, where scaffolding may make it easier for a potential thief to reach premises on higher floors.
