42 people were injured, including two seriously, in a coach accident that occurred on Friday evening on the A4 motorway before Legnica. Following the accident, the motorway toward Olszyna was impassable for nearly eight hours.

The accident occurred before 11:00 p.m.—near Koskowice—at kilometer 92 of the A4 motorway on the route from Wrocław to Legnica. The coach, carrying 56 passengers and two drivers, overturned. The accident was probably caused by the driver becoming unwell. The bus was traveling from Przemyśl to Bonn, Germany.

The coach passengers were taken by ambulance, and in some cases also by police cars, to hospitals in Legnica, Środa Śląska, Złotoryja, Jawor, Lubin and Bolesławiec. Two injured people were taken to the hospital in Bolesławiec.

Police are also investigating the causes of the second accident, which occurred several hours later on the opposite carriageway. The driver of a passenger car most likely became distracted by the overturned coach and drove into a ditch. One person died at the scene, and three others were injured.
