The evidence gathered by police in the case confirmed that two residents of Zgorzelec, aged 42 and 37, who worked as vehicle inspectors, accepted financial benefits for fictitiously conducting technical inspections.

So far, officers have identified at least several dozen cases in which owners of passenger cars “passed” the mandatory annual vehicle inspection without even driving their cars onto the inspection bay. In many cases... all that was needed was the vehicle registration certificate.

Both inspectors were arrested. They could face up to 10 years in prison. Police also arrested two car owners who will be held responsible for offering bribes.
