Officers from the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra identified and then detained a 43-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra suspected of attempted murder.

They established that the incident occurred on May 2, before 7 p.m., in one of the parks in Jelenia Góra. Community police officers patrolling this area of the city found a 27-year-old man lying on the ground, covered in blood and suffering from numerous stab wounds. The injured man was taken to hospital.

The officers detained the 43-year-old suspect the following day. The knife attacker was taken to police custody. At the time of his detention, he was drunk—a test of the alcohol content in his body showed nearly 1.5 per mille.

The detained resident of Jelenia Góra could now face life imprisonment.
