A concerned driver called the Lubin police duty officer. He reported that he was driving his car along Hutnicza Street behind another driver. The latter’s driving suggested that he was drunk. The officer immediately passed the information on to patrols in the city.

Officers from the Traffic Division spotted the aforementioned VW Passat near Generała Maczka Street. They followed it. They switched on their audible and visual signals and clearly signaled the driver to stop the vehicle. Instead of stopping, however, he suddenly accelerated and began to flee.

Additional patrol cars joined the pursuit. On Legnicka Street, officers used two cars to block the fleeing driver, effectively forcing him to stop.

The irresponsible driver had more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. He will not lose his driving licence because... he never had one. The 40-year-old resident of Legnica County was arrested and taken to police custody.

He could now face up to two years in prison.
