Officers from the Police Station in Warta Bolesławiecka, as a result of operational activities, identified and detained a man suspected of committing a dozen criminal acts. The detainee is a 21-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County.
Police findings indicate that the suspect had been engaged in his criminal activity from January 2015 to March 2016. During that time, he repeatedly stole telecommunications and fibre-optic cables. The detainee also stole equipment from one of the boxes at a motorway toll plaza, causing losses of nearly PLN 30,000. The total losses caused by the “activities” of our local resident were estimated at over PLN 70,000.
The suspect was charged with 14 counts of property theft. The man confessed to the crimes. He explained that he burned the stolen cables and sold the raw material obtained in this way at various non-ferrous metal collection points.
What is more, it turned out that the 21-year-old was wanted—he has a prison sentence to serve for other property-related crimes. He now faces up to five years in prison.
