Officers from the Police Station in Szklarska Poręba detained a 50-year-old woman suspected of theft, attempted burglary and burglaries.
The officers established that the incident took place on 8 March this year in one of the apartments in Szklarska Poręba. The victim had invited the 50-year-old woman over for a drink to celebrate Women’s Day. During the visit, the perpetrator took advantage of the hostess’s momentary inattention and stole her wallet. The thief took documents, cash and three payment cards along with their PIN.
It later emerged that the 50-year-old had used her friend’s cards at least seven times. She withdrew a total of PLN 1,450 from the victim’s account and attempted to withdraw cash four times.
The robbed woman notified the police. She also said that she suspected her friend. The latter admitted to the theft and handed over the stolen items.
The 50-year-old was detained in police custody. A test for alcohol in her system showed 2.5 per mille.
The thief faces up to 10 years in prison.
