Intensive training is intended to prepare soldiers to carry out tasks in an allied environment. Last week’s exercises began with each participant independently setting a live anti-tank mine. During the next part of the training, the instructor demonstrated the destruction of anti-tank mines.

The primary task was for the sappers to create a section of an anti-tank minefield using live mines. At the end of the exercises, lanes were cleared through the designated minefields using the so-called manual-explosive method.

An additional difficulty during the exercises was the unfavorable weather, which affected the sappers undergoing training. Nevertheless, they completed their task, proving that they are ready to act regardless of weather and terrain conditions.

While summarizing the completed exercises, the acting commander of the sapper company, Lieutenant Przemysław Pakies, said: “Training with live anti-tank mines is one of the most important training objectives for sappers and requires them to have skills in working with explosives and mine-detection equipment (metal detectors), as well as knowledge of the construction and principles of laying anti-tank mines.
