In this year’s ranking, Dziennik. Gazeta Prawna’s partners, Magellan and Deloitte Polska, assessed hospitals’ asset efficiency, sales profitability and contract growth. The ranking methodology was developed by Magellan, while Deloitte carried out the data verification.

As we read on the website of Powiat Bolesławiecki:

Let us recall that the good position of the county hospital in Bolesławiec is connected with the way the facility is managed and its planned, continuous development. In 2009, the hospital adopted a 10-year recovery programme, under which it adjusted its bed base and increased the number of services provided. The hospital uses a management control system and risk management on a daily basis. To expand the hospital’s offering and thereby increase access to services, a neurology subunit was opened within the internal medicine department. Gastroenterology was also launched. The hospital also uses outsourcing, giving patients access to a renovated laboratory, new computed tomography equipment, and ultrasound and X-ray examinations.

A company providing dialysis services has also established a presence at the hospital, which makes patients’ lives considerably easier. The hospital is also helped by the consistent support of Powiat Bolesławiecki. From 2006 to 2015, Powiat Bolesławiecki provided the hospital with more than PLN 15 million in financial assistance in various forms. The County Board has supported the consistent policy of ZOZ director Adama Zdaniuka for years.

Bolesławiec County Starosta Dariusz Kwaśniewski:

The hospital’s high position in the ranking confirms that hospital management and the consistent policy of the county authorities towards the hospital are producing results. Both the hospital director’s actions and the county’s financial assistance will continue to focus on the well-being of patients and the facility’s development. The fact that the positive changes at our hospital have been noticed externally is pleasing, especially since the hospital is often subjected to unjustified yet harsh criticism voiced by some representatives of municipal authorities. This is not good. It does not serve us. And it undermines the dedicated work of the hospital staff to improve the health security of residents.

The ranking also shows that the money invested in the hospital in Bolesławiec is not being wasted and is bringing benefits to all of us. Let us remember: although assigned by law to the county, the hospital serves us all—the residents of the county’s six municipalities. I regret that not all municipalities, and not always, want to support the positive changes taking place at the hospital. We will argue that it should be cared for by all of us, not only by the county authorities and county councillors. Our hospital must keep getting better.

I congratulate all the employees of the county hospital, the medical staff and the hospital management. Please—also on behalf of the county’s residents—do more.
