Police officers from Police Precinct II in Jelenia Góra detained a 57-year-old resident of Piechowice suspected of burglary, making criminal threats and driving while intoxicated.
The incident occurred on the evening of 23 October this year in Piechowice. The man came to his neighbour carrying a knife and began threatening him. However, the two men reached an agreement, and the neighbour let him into the apartment.
At one point, the man took advantage of the owner’s inattention and stole his car keys, which he used to start his neighbour’s car and drive away in it. The victim did not realise until several hours later that the car was gone and notified the police.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the early hours of 24 October this year in Piechowice. It turned out that the 57-year-old had been driving the car while intoxicated. A breath test showed 0.6 per mille.
The man was detained in police custody. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
