– We had been eagerly awaiting another year. This is already my fourth edition, and each one is more pleasantly surprising than the last. There is no chance of getting bored here – says Barbara Wilczura, one of the University's students.

There will be author meetings, gold-style Zumba classes aimed at seniors, and dance evenings. The programme also includes workshops with Ilona Wargacka – a coach and personal development trainer, trips to the Capitol Musical Theatre in Wrocław, as well as hat-making workshops.

The first meeting of the seniors took place four years ago and was financially supported by European Union programmes and the Rudna Municipality. Changes to the regulations, however, meant that for the past three years it has been funded solely by the municipality. This academic year, the local authorities will allocate PLN 50,000 to the operation of the University of the Third Age and students' travel to classes in Rudna.

– I assure you that I will do everything I can to support our seniors. The money the municipality allocates for this purpose is certainly not wasted – says Władysław Bigus, head of the Rudna Municipality.

Anyone who has reached the age of 50 can become a student of the University of the Third Age, regardless of their previous education. Starting next semester, students will also have a new meeting place in the renovated building of the Cultural Centre in Rudna.
