On February 5, 2025, Bolesławiec Water Park “Orka” became the venue for an extraordinary event—the 12th edition of the Water Universiade organized by the University of the Third Age in Bolesławiec under the patronage of the Mayor of Bolesławiec. The event brought together around 50 participants, most of them aged 70 or over, who enthusiastically showed that it is never too late to learn to swim and take part in physical activity.

The slogan of this year’s event, “Orka Pool—great stuff! There’s swimming, there’s fun,” perfectly captured the atmosphere that prevailed on this special day. UTW students, who had been training intensively in recent months, were able to demonstrate the skills they had acquired during the classes. Traditionally, the event began with energetic gymnastics performances that warmed up the audience and put everyone in a cheerful mood.

Thanks to initiatives such as the Water Universiade, UTW participants have the opportunity not only to improve their physical fitness, but also to enjoy time together, make new acquaintances and share the joy of being active. In Bolesławiec, sport and learning go hand in hand, and seniors prove that a healthy lifestyle and the joy of movement are within everyone’s reach, regardless of age.
