On February 4, 2026, the Bolesławiec “ORKA” Water Park filled with sporting excitement, smiles and positive energy. It was all thanks to the “Water Universiade” – an exceptional event organized for the thirteenth time by the University of the Third Age in Bolesławiec, in cooperation with the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre.
The aim of the Universiade was to present the swimming skills acquired during regular classes, but above all – to show that it is never too late to learn to swim and actively take care of one’s health. The achievements of UTW participants are the best proof that age is no barrier to personal development and sporting challenges.
– This form of activity at any age guarantees better physical fitness, improved cardiovascular function and an excellent sense of well-being – the event’s participants emphasized, sharing their joy and motivation for further training.
Exciting swimming competitions were held in the main pool, including: a 25-metre swim with a pool noodle, freestyle swimming, and an energetic relay full of teamwork. There was just as much happening in the smaller pool, where competitors took part in: throwing at a target, equipment races, and dynamic water polo full of laughter.
The sporting competition concluded with a joint gymnastics performance involving all Universiade participants – a symbol of unity, cooperation and the joy of movement. The winners in the individual categories were then honored, with recognition given not only for results, but also for commitment and sportsmanship.
