Police officers from the Prevention Department of the Lubin police headquarters received information from the duty officer on August 5, 2015, at approximately 6:00 a.m., that a car was most likely being broken into on the Ustronie estate, outside one of the restaurants. The caller was a 45-year-old female victim and Lubin resident, who had entered the premises she owned with a new delivery of food.
While inside the building, she heard noise coming from the place where she had parked her BMW passenger car.
She called the police, who, upon arriving at the scene, caught a 33-year-old man from Lubin red-handed. He had gained access to the vehicle by breaking the window in the door. From inside the vehicle, he stole everything he managed to notice: six commemorative coins, a backpack with clothing, a car charger, and even... a halogen bulb.
The perpetrator will also be held responsible for property damage—he struck the vehicle’s roof with a stone several times. The total losses were valued at PLN 3,000.
Moreover, during his arrest, the man committed another offence: he insulted the officers.
The 33-year-old was drunk. He had nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. After sobering up, he confessed and expressed his willingness to voluntarily submit to punishment. He could face up to 10 years in prison.
