A 36-year-old foreign national was taken into police custody after being detained by officers from the criminal division of the Lubin police headquarters. The man attempted to rob customers of one of the banks using the so-called flat-tire scam.

Officers determined that a money theft could take place in Lubin. To achieve his goal, the perpetrator watched the bank’s customers. When they, unaware of the danger, withdrew money, he would... puncture a tire on their car.

Then everything was supposed to happen as follows: the perpetrator would follow the vehicle with the punctured tire, and when its driver stopped to change it, the perpetrator would steal the driver’s money.

This time, however, he did not succeed because the foreign national was being observed by the officers and was detained.

The 36-year-old’s case will be heard under expedited proceedings. He faces up to five years in prison.
