The arrest took place on 23 June this year in a car park in Gromadka municipality, where TIR drivers often stop to rest.
Police officers noticed two men there with canisters full of fuel. It turned out that the drivers, who worked for the same transport company, had stolen fuel from TIR trucks belonging to their employer.
A 58-year-old resident of Silesian Voivodeship and a 43-year-old resident of Opole Voivodeship stole a total of 100 litres of diesel fuel. They planned to divide the stolen property between themselves.
The drivers’ employer was informed of the incident. The 58-year-old and the 43-year-old now face up to five years in prison.
