The tragic incident occurred on 30 December 2014 in Bolesławiec. Before noon, the victim came to her daughter’s apartment to visit her grandchildren, despite having a poor relationship with their mother. The conflict was caused by the victim’s interference in her daughter’s personal life and in the way she raised her two young children.

At around 4:00 p.m., an argument broke out between the women in the kitchen. During the altercation, the suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and began stabbing the victim in various parts of her body. The victim defended herself and tried to wrest the knife from her attacker, but was unsuccessful.

When the mother fell onto the carpet, the daughter began striking her repeatedly on the head and other parts of her body with a kitchen meat tenderizer. The woman died as a result of the blows.

After committing the crime, the suspect began erasing traces of the incident by washing blood from the floor, furniture and walls. She put the knife, along with the other cutlery, in the dishwasher and washed the bloodstained clothing. She then dressed the victim’s body in a jacket and hid it in a wardrobe in the bedroom. She also made sure to move the car in which her mother had arrived to a secluded location.

In the evening, the suspect’s husband began searching for his mother-in-law at the request of the murdered woman’s concerned mother. He also reported her missing to the police. The next day, while going shopping, he found her car and then discovered the woman’s body in the wardrobe.

During the investigation, the suspect was examined by court-appointed psychiatrists and underwent psychiatric observation. The psychiatrists determined that she was neither mentally ill nor intellectually disabled and that she had been fully accountable at the time of the alleged crime. They did, however, diagnose her with a personality disorder and concluded that she had feigned mental illness.

At the request of the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec, the woman was placed in temporary custody by the local court.

The accused could face life imprisonment.
