The training, which this year will involve eight “uniformed classes” from Lower Silesia and other regions of the country, is organized by the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando” and the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. The initiative is also supported by the Military Supplementary Command, the Military Police Facility in Bolesławiec, sappers from the Bolesławiec demining patrol, and the “Baryt” Search and Rescue Unit. Instruction in elements of high-mountain climbing is provided by instructors from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów and the Border Guard Specialist Training Center in Lubań.

Involving specialists from various fields and areas of military activity in the training process creates an opportunity for students in uniformed-profile classes to improve their practical skills and deepen the knowledge acquired at school as part of their curriculum. The pioneers of this year’s training camp were students from the military class at the School Complex in Bielsko-Biała, who spent five days acquiring skills and testing themselves under the supervision of military instructors.

The subjects covered included individual and team drill, firearms training, tactics, engineering and sapper training, negotiating the physical fitness course, instruction in elements of high-mountain climbing, water training, medical rescue, and preventive sessions. In the evenings, the young people improved their swimming skills at Bolesławiec’s “Orka” swimming pool. This year, a running strength test (BTS) was also included in the training program for the first time. The test of strength, endurance, and agility gives young people an opportunity to assess their physical condition and demonstrates the requirements they must meet to seriously consider further development toward future service in uniformed “formations”.

On April 25, the completion of training by the military class from Bielsko-Biała was summarized. Alongside fatigue, the faces of the trainees showed satisfaction at completing all stages of the training and passing their first “military examination”.

During the final assembly, the vice-president of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando”, senior staff warrant officer of the reserve Bogdan Fiałkowski, presented the young people with certificates confirming completion of the training, while the best participants were honored with material prizes.

The Commando Field Exercise is co-financed by the Ministry of National Defence.
