The incident took place on Monday, after 6 p.m. Two men entered a restaurant in central Legnica. They ordered two Hungarian-style potato pancakes and four beers. After finishing their meal, both left the restaurant without paying.

The police officers who were called detained the men several streets away. They were intoxicated. A breathalyzer test showed 1.8 per mille in one of them and 2.3 per mille in the other. They told the officers that... today they did not have the money to pay for lunch. But perhaps they would have it tomorrow, and then they would pay.

The men, aged 48 and 57, were taken to the municipal sobering-up station. One of them is a resident of Legnica; the other has no permanent registered address. They face detention, restriction of liberty or a fine. They will also have to reimburse the cost of the meal and the beer they drank.
