The celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Janusz Korczak II Secondary School in Bolesławiec began with a thanksgiving Mass at the Church of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
The ceremony, held in the gymnasium of the “twos”, was attended by, among others, Senator of the Republic of Poland Jan Michalski, Lower Silesian Marshal Cezary Przybylski, Bolesławiec County Starost Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Deputy Starost Marian Haniszewski, Chair of the Bolesławiec County Council Karol Stasik, Mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman, Chair of the Bolesławiec City Council Jarosław Kowalski, former Chair of the City Council Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk, former directors and employees of the school, including Tadeusz Jurkowski, Dr Edmund Maliński, Jadwiga Szczurowska, Beata Sulska, Mr and Mrs Iwona and Józef Cempurowie), as well as the school’s graduates.
There were also moving speeches and recollections. The ceremony was hosted by entrepreneurship teacher Beata Solpa-Tertel and current II LO headmaster Mirosław Sakowski. The event was enhanced by performances, including those by the Cantate Deo and Kamerton choirs conducted by Aleksandra Samostrokowa.
The programme also includes, among other things, the play “Eight Women” performed by the school’s Theatre Club, which will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Old Theatre, as well as the Ball for Graduates (at 8:00 p.m.).
