During the investigation, it was established that senior aspirant Robert Ł. was conducting, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, preparatory proceedings against Bolesławiec resident Dorota B. On September 12 last year, the police officer questioned her as a suspect.
Dorota B. decided to voluntarily submit to punishment. Among other things, she agreed to a fine totaling PLN 500 and to remedy the damage amounting to PLN 650. The accused suggested that B. give him PLN 1,150, which he would transfer to the court toward the agreed-upon penalty. However, the suspect did not have any money with her that day.
On September 15, Robert Ł. called B., again suggesting that she give him the money. Unaware of anything suspicious, she came to the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters building, where, in an office, she handed Ł. PLN 1,150.
When accepting the money from the woman, the accused once again assured her that it would be transferred toward the fine and the obligation to remedy the damage.
The police officer did not draw up a report of the temporary seizure of property or any other document regarding the transaction. He did not give Dorota B. a receipt. He appropriated the money handed to him, failing to deposit it into the deposit account of the District Court in Bolesławiec.
Questioned as a suspect, Robert Ł. did not admit to committing the alleged offense. He stated that he had received no money from Dorota B.
The District Prosecutor in Jelenia Góra applied a preventive measure against the police officer in the form of suspension from official duties.
Ł. may face up to 10 years in prison.
