Police officers from the Police Station in Szklarska Poręba detained a 38-year-old resident of Złotoryja County, suspected of driving while intoxicated and violating a court-ordered ban.

The arrest took place on 15 February this year, at around 2:22 a.m., on 1 Maja Street in Szklarska Poręba. The officers noticed an Opel Astra being driven in a manner suggesting that its driver was drunk.

The officers stopped the car for a road check. Their suspicions were confirmed—the 38-year-old resident of Złotoryja County, who was driving the Opel, had nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his system, and a court-ordered driving ban remains in effect against him until 2018.

The man explained that he had come to Szklarska Poręba for a party and was now returning home.

He now faces up to five years in prison.
