A 26-year-old homeless man was caught red-handed on December 4, shortly after the duty officer at the Jelenia Góra police received information about a man's suspicious behavior on one of the streets in Jelenia Góra. At the scene, officers noticed the 26-year-old trying to steal a catalytic converter from a Peugeot car. The victim estimated the value of the device at PLN 2,000.

As it turned out, the suspect had three other catalytic converter thefts on his record. He committed all the crimes between September and December of this year in Jelenia Góra. The victims' losses totaled more than PLN 12,000.

The man confessed. He faces up to five years in prison.
