One of the residents notified police officers that disturbing noises were coming from the direction of a shop in the Centrum housing estate in Lubin. She emphasised that the shop was closed at that time.

A police patrol went to the scene. As it turned out, the woman’s suspicions were not unfounded. Someone had stolen aluminium frames containing advertisements, causing losses of more than PLN 1,000.

The thieves—two men from Lubin, aged 51 and 61—did not have time to enjoy their loot because they were detained shortly afterwards. Both were drunk. One had 1.2 per mille of alcohol in his system, while the other had as much as three.

The suspects presumably wanted to sell the frames at a scrap-metal collection point. They were taken into police custody. They face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
