The incident took place on November 25. The Lubin police duty officer received a report that someone had illegally tapped gas in one of the apartments on the Staszica housing estate. The gas emergency service was called to the scene. It turned out that the theft had occurred in an apartment where the gas supply had been cut off because the bills had not been paid.
This did not stop the perpetrator, however. He connected the gas inlet and outlet valves using a piece of rubber bicycle inner tube. The gas emergency service dismantled the installation.
The man will now face trial for stealing energy. He faces up to five years in prison.
