The man was arrested and taken to police custody. He is a 23-year-old resident of Lubusz Voivodeship who was renting an apartment in Legnica.
Police determined that over the past six months, the suspect had stolen 33 catalytic converters from cars parked in the Piekary and Kopernik housing estates and in the city centre. He most often targeted catalytic converters from Citroen, Peugeot, Renault, Ford, Seat and Toyota vehicles.
On Monday, 13 October, police established the identities of 20 people affected by the 23-year-old thief. The remaining victims are asked to contact the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.
The arrested man had previously been convicted of an offence against property. He now faces up to five years in prison.
