The incident took place on October 9, before 9:00 a.m. While driving along Grunwaldzka Street in Jelenia Góra, police officers noticed a man cutting metal with a ball cutter. When they drove closer, it turned out that the 59-year-old man with no permanent place of residence had sawed down an approximately 10-metre street lamp and was then cutting it into pieces that he intended to sell at a scrap-metal collection point. He did not manage to do so: he was detained and taken to police custody.

The losses were estimated at PLN 2,000. The vandal faces up to five years in prison.
