The detention took place on Monday, September 15. After 8:00 p.m., Legnica police officers were informed of a theft at one of the large sports stores. Security detained a 29-year-old resident of Złotoryja County who crossed the checkout line without paying for clothing she had hidden... in the baby carrier containing her 3-month-old daughter.
The 29-year-old had hidden two pairs of trousers and two pairs of sports shoes in the carrier, with a total value of over PLN 500.
As it turned out, the suspect had come to Legnica with a friend. In the latter's car, officers found a set of socket wrenches and taps, as well as another pair of trousers. All the items came from thefts.
Both women were detained. They face up to five years in prison. The stolen property was returned to its owners.
