The incident took place on Sunday, September 7, at around 3:00 p.m. Bolesławiec police officers detained two people: a 42-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman from Legnica County. While patrolling the town, the officers noticed a car at one of the roundabouts with the cargo compartment doors open. The man was driving it.
As they followed the vehicle, the officers saw in its side mirrors that a woman suddenly appeared behind the wheel. After several dozen metres, the car suddenly turned onto an unpaved road and stopped.
It turned out that the 42-year-old driver, who was subject to a court-imposed driving ban, decided to swap places behind the wheel with the passenger when he saw the patrol. Both were drunk. He had nearly 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system, while she had almost 3 per mille. Moreover, the woman from Legnica County did not have a driving licence.
She now faces up to two years in prison. The 42-year-old man could receive up to three years in prison for violating the court-imposed ban.
