A resident of Katowice reported to the Legnica police station and told officers that on the evening of August 22, he had become distracted and left his wallet containing money, documents and payment cards on the roof of his car. Before he realized what had happened, someone had already taken his property and gone shopping, paying contactlessly (buying alcohol and cigarettes worth more than PLN 1,300).
The perpetrator was arrested. He turned out to be a 24-year-old resident of Legnica who had no previous convictions. The man was taken into police custody. Officers recovered the Katowice resident’s property.
The 24-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
