On the night of August 23–24, at around 1:20 a.m., on Kościuszki Street, municipal police officers noticed a young man who had taken one of the flags of the City of Bolesławiec. As it turned out, he was also carrying a Festival flag. He was fined.
That same night, at approximately 2:05 a.m., a monitoring operator observed three people standing near the bank on Bankowa Street, including a young man who was hitting a sculpture placed on the steps. It was determined that he could knock it over at any moment. A Municipal Police patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene. The man was apprehended at the intersection of Polna and Słowackiego streets.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., on Śluzowa Street, officers noticed an Opel Astra driving across the entire roadway without its lights on. At the intersection with Lubańska Street, the vehicle skidded, then stopped briefly in the middle of the intersection before heading toward Bożejowice.
The Opel driver probably realized that a municipal police patrol was right behind him. At one point, he stopped the car, got out and began to flee. One of the officers gave chase. The fugitive was apprehended; a strong smell of alcohol could be detected on him. What is more, he was not carrying any documents. He admitted that he had been drinking alcohol. He added that he was subject to a court ban on driving vehicles. In addition, the man who had been traveling with the apprehended driver also smelled of alcohol.
The police were called, and it turned out that the driver had more than one per mille of alcohol in his breath. Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by officers from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters.
