At the beginning of August this year, an unknown perpetrator stole covers that secured access to heating-system chambers. The losses amounted to 600 zlotys. The thief showed exceptional irresponsibility—the covers were located near a hospital, and someone could have fallen into the chamber.
The case was handled by officers from the Criminal Division of the Lubin police, who arrested the perpetrator of the theft. He turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of Lubin.
As the officers determined, the Lubin resident wanted to sell the loot at a scrap-metal collection point. He hid it, but then... another thief robbed him.
The 30-year-old now faces up to five years in prison. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of and arrest the second perpetrator.
