The incident took place at the beginning of October last year. Krzysztof K., head of the Gromadka Municipal Council, was at a social gathering with a longtime acquaintance. An argument broke out, after which both men left for their respective homes. Some time later, the defendant’s acquaintance drove to K.’s property and pulled out a machete. Another confrontation ensued, during which K. grabbed an axe and injured the acquaintance’s left arm, thereby causing a health impairment lasting more than seven days. However, as Violetta Niziołek, spokeswoman for the Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office, stressed in a conversation with “ii”, the injuries were not very serious. Moreover, as the prosecutor said, the evidence did not indicate that the defendant had acted in self-defense.
In April this year, the Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against K. with the court. The man pleaded not guilty and refused to testify. He faces up to five years in prison.
Gromadka Mayor Dariusz Pawliszczy did not want to comment on the case. “If there is a verdict, I will respond to it,” he noted. “I have no reservations about the chairman’s work.”
We will return to the subject.
