Two men were apprehended by officers from the police station in Kruszyn: a 38-year-old resident of Łódź Voivodeship and a 49-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County. Both are suspected of possessing 100 kg of tobacco and 10,000 cigarettes without Polish excise stamps.
The arrests took place in a car park in Gromadka Municipality. The 38-year-old was transferring illegal tobacco from the boot of his car into the 49-year-old’s vehicle. Officers are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case. The market value of the seized tobacco and cigarettes is more than PLN 55,000.
Both detainees face a sentence of up to three years in prison.
