The incident occurred during the night of May 27–28 in Bolesławiec. Three residents of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality came to the town intending to commit a theft. They had previously agreed on how to divide the roles and the proceeds from selling the stolen property. They were scared off while cutting a catalytic converter from a car parked in one of the housing-estate parking lots.
On June 2, the suspects were detained by community police officers. The would-be thieves confessed to the crime. They now face up to 5 years in prison.
