Exercises involving the Bolesławiec police were held at the Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Bolesławiec. Their main objective was to improve the response of emergency services in crisis situations involving a threat to people’s lives and health
The scenario was as follows: during a lesson, an armed man enters the classroom and terrorizes the students and teacher. The attacker demands a meeting with the school principal.
The people in the school building were evacuated. Thanks to the police negotiator, the terrorist released all the hostages, and the officers managed to overpower the attacker.
The operation involved officers from the Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu, officials from the crisis management team of the Starostwo Powiatowe, firefighters, emergency medical services, as well as students and teachers from the “mechanik”.
“The exercises were successfully completed,” says Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, spokeswoman for the Bolesławiec police. “The services acted efficiently in the crisis situation, and everyone present at the operational debrief expressed their willingness and need to participate in further operations so that, in the face of a real threat, joint actions would be equally quick and effective.
