The incident took place in April in Milików (Nowogrodziec Municipality). The driver of a freight train travelling from Węgliniec to Niwnice noticed that something was lying on the tracks. After a moment, he realised it was a person. He began braking and sounding the horn.

When the train stopped, it turned out that the man lying on the tracks—a 65-year-old homeless man—had ended up beneath the locomotive’s snowplough. However, there was no collision, because the 65-year-old... was completely unharmed.

The homeless man explained that he had been crossing the tracks, slipped and lost consciousness. At the time of the incident, he was drunk, with almost 2.5 parts per mille of alcohol in his system. It is also known that he had not attempted to commit suicide.

The locomotive was pulling 26 carriages. They were empty. Otherwise, the 65-year-old might have been far less lucky.
