The incident took place on Monday, 17 March, on the road between Nowogrodziec and Zebrzydowa. At around 5:22 a.m., the driver of a Polonez—a 77-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality who had probably fainted—moved into the opposite lane and collided with a Volkswagen Jetta. Both drivers were injured and taken to hospital; it is known, however, that their lives are not in danger.
Three fire service units took part in the operation: two from KP PSP Bolesławiec and firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Service in Nowogrodziec, as well as police officers and paramedics. The driver responsible for the collision was fined PLN 250.
