The “Farmer-Farmer of the Year” competition promotes modern farmers and those who, thanks to their ingenuity and initiative, can adapt to new realities and a changing market. This year, in the vegetable-growing category, the prestigious award went to Danuta and Stanislaw Kuduk of Warta Bolesławiecka.
President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski wrote in a letter addressed to the laureates that the competition shows how important agriculture is as an economic sector across the country and how enormous the changes in the Polish countryside have been. He stressed that he was impressed by the results of the farmers’ work. In his view, the question of how Polish agriculture would cope on the European Union’s single market is no longer relevant. Today, the question should be which new sectors of Polish agriculture may dominate it in the near future.
Danuta and Stanisław’s family farm covers more than 2,000 hectares, where potatoes, red beets, carrots, parsley and onions, as well as cereals and rapeseed, are grown. The farm is fully mechanized and equipped with machinery and devices for growing, harvesting and transporting vegetables.
The competition is organized by the “Polish FARMER – FARMER OF THE YEAR Club” Association, while the partner is the Agricultural Property Agency. Honorary patronage over the competition is provided by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the President of the Agricultural Property Agency and the Rector of the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz.
