With great satisfaction and pride, we announce that we have received thanks from the County Police Commander in Bolesławiec for the participation of our rescuers from the Volunteer Fire Service in Warta Bolesławiecka in search operations conducted during the night of July 17–18, 2026, which ended with the safe discovery of the missing senior.

The firefighters stress that this is a special distinction for them.

This is an exceptionally pleasant and valuable distinction for us. It confirms that the commitment, professionalism and good cooperation of all services have a real impact on the safety of local residents.

They point out that the thanks they received are also an obligation to continue developing.

The firefighters also expressed their thanks to the police officers and other services involved in the operation.

Let us recall that the nighttime search operation began on July 18 at 1:18 a.m. after the disappearance of an 83-year-old local resident was reported. He had left his home the previous day and had not returned. After arriving at the scene, the services held a briefing and designated search sectors using the SIRON platform.

The rescuers searched the area both from the ground and from the air. The operation used, among other equipment, a DJI Matrice 4TD drone with a thermal-imaging camera and a rescue quad bike, which made it possible to effectively check hard-to-reach areas at night as well.

A breakthrough came after approximately four hours of intensive searching. Rescuers traveling by quad bike found the missing senior near his car. The man was conscious, but complained of spinal and lower-limb pain. An Emergency Medical Team was called to the scene, and after examining the patient, its crew decided to transport him to hospital.

The operation’s happy conclusion was the result of cooperation between firefighters, police officers and paramedics, as well as the use of specialized equipment. The thanks received from the County Police Commander in Bolesławiec are an expression of recognition for the commitment of everyone involved in the operation.
