Police officers from Nowogrodziec arrested a 42-year-old woman suspected of stealing a wallet containing documents and bank cards. The incident took place in a shop. One of the customers was packing her purchases and briefly set her wallet aside. When she wanted to pick it up, it was gone. As it turned out, it had been taken by another resident of Nowogrodziec.
Based on witness accounts, the officers first established a description of the suspect and then her identity (on the day of the theft, the woman was at the Nowogrodziec police station).
The 42-year-old admitted her guilt. She now faces up to five years in prison. The wallet was returned to its owner. Police are appealing for vigilance when doing pre-Christmas shopping.
